Middle School
Exemplar Lessons
Welcome to our Middle School Financial Literacy Lessons, where we build upon the foundational skills introduced in elementary school and prepare students for the more advanced financial topics they will encounter in high school. Designed for students in grades 6-8, these lessons serve as a crucial bridge between basic financial concepts and the in-depth lessons that await them in their high school experience and beyond.

The seven exemplar lessons below provide a deeper exploration of financial literacy concepts, bridging the gap between elementary basics and complex topics. These lessons offer a framework that promotes critical thinking and real-world application, which is essential for middle school learners. Educators can utilize these lessons individually within other subject areas, together as a unit, or as models to develop their own additional lessons that adhere to the provided standards and objectives.

Teachers are encouraged to use these lessons as written, or to adapt the exemplar lessons to incorporate relevant scenarios, case studies, and hands-on activities that resonate with their students. By doing so, they can create a dynamic learning environment that not only enhances understanding but also prepares students for the more advanced financial concepts they will encounter in high school.
